Description
This one’s a little more complex. It’s a P-20 class outdoor plane. P-20 isn’t a real AMA sanctioned class, but the event crops up from time to time. It’s kind of a small field idea. The rules are: 20 grams minimum, 20″ span, 20″ length, 8″ prop, 4 grams of rubber, and a 90-second max. The Rocket Man uses a rocket tube fuselage with the loop extending out the rear for easy access. The prop, shaft and bearing are all from Peck and the nosepiece has a cool feature that lets you adjust the thrustline to any (reasonable) combination of right and down you like. (Actually, you could adjust it for left/up as well, but nobody’s that silly!) The wing is an undercambered design, while the stab is a lightweight flat assembly that kicks up as part of the dethermalizer system. The DT is a simple viscous damper and spring arrangement. To help you manage the 4-strand 3/32″ loop, two metal winding rings are included. This one’s fun, and would be a great stepping stone to flying P-30’s. This kit does not include covering material, but any lightweight tissue or quarter-mil mylar works fine.
